Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect finding out which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
